Zooey Deschanel Gushes Over Her ‘Sweetie’ Jonathan Scott After Celebrating First Christmas and New Year’s Together
Zooey Deschanel and Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott just spent their first Christmas and New Year’s together as a couple, and the two couldn’t help but gush over each other on Instagram with sweet posts to kick off 2020.
The 39-year-old actress posted a pic with Scott that featured the couple standing on a balcony cuddled up together as they smiled for the camera. In the caption, Deschanel wrote, “A truly Happy New Year with my sweetie! 🥳 🥰💕.”
Scott also commented on the photo, writing that his new year’s resolution was to continue being “the kinda fella” she deserves. The 41-year-old also posted pics of the couple on his Instagram, and in his caption he wrote, “Once in a lifetime you meet someone who changes everything😍”
In his comment section, Deschanel wrote that she is “the luckiest gal.” And, Scott’s brother JD wrote that the couple was “so cute.”
Deschanel and Scott met in August during a Carpool Karaoke segment with James Cordon. An insider told People Magazine they bonded quickly over a “shared love of music.” The source added that Scott makes Deschanel laugh, and he is “so sweet” to her.
Just a few short weeks after they met, Deschanel announced that she and her husband of four years, Jacob Pechenik, had split. They said in a joint statement that after a lot of discussion and a long period of contemplation, they decided that they were better off as friends, business partners, and co-parents, instead of life partners. The former couple shares two children: Elsie, 4, and Charlie, 2.
After Deschanel and Scott got together, they haven’t been shy about sharing their relationship on Instagram. During their first Christmas together, the couple watched the 2003 film Elf, which Deschanel starred in with Will Ferrell. When Scott shared a pic on Instagram, he quoted the movie, writing that Deschanel was “so pretty you could be on a Christmas card.”
Scott has also been an awesome Instagram boyfriend and has posted backstage footage from her Very She & Him Christmas Party tour with M. Ward. Jonathan Scott also joined Zooey Deschanel on stage a few times during the tour.
