When you think of a romantic getaway, beautiful surroundings and seclusion probably come to mind. How about… a school bus? Well, that might not sound so crazy now, thanks to this cozy converted bus tucked away in a forest.
Nestled in the pines of North Carolina, the bus in question sits on the crest of a ridge overlooking the Black Mountains. It’s part of Sparkleback Farm, a small-scale organic farm and homestead. With a plush full size bed, a sink, towels, electricity, bed sheets, and eating area, it has all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Lined with windows like a typical school bus, the camper gets lots of natural light. The main bath house is a 30 second walk across the lawn. Immersed in nature, the shower (with hot water!) and the composting toilets have a beautiful view of the mountains.
While the bus is secluded, it’s not isolated. Just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville, its within driving distance of plenty of gorgeous sights. You can tour the historic Biltmore Estate, for one, or stroll through 65 acres of gardens in the North Carolina Arboretum.
Past renters loved staying in a unique place surrounded by nature. “What a special and incredible getaway spot!” a past tenant wrote. “I would highly recommend [Sparkleback] Farm to anyone looking for a relaxing, unique, romantic weekend. The bus was super clean and all amenities were great. I can’t wait to go back!”
