Last month, a New Orleans lawyer told NOLA.com he planned to file suit against Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation, which built energy-efficient homes for residents of the city’s Lower Ninth Ward after it was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Now, People reports the lawsuit has been filed by attorneys representing all of the homeowners. Claiming the structures “were deficiently constructed and built,” and remain plagued by problems ranging from mold to electrical and plumbing problems, the lawsuit alleges the foundation promised to make repairs but did not follow through. The homeowners, meanwhile are “stuck with mortgages on properties that have diminished values” as the homes continue to fall apart, the lawsuit states. It also includes text praising Pitt for “spearheading the rebuilding of the Lower Ninth Ward because their neighborhood housed more than their homes. It housed their community,” according to People. Though a rep for Pitt and the foundation has not yet responded to the magazine with a comment, an insider close to the situation says “repairs began months ago” and that Pitt “made a promise to the people of the Lower Ninth and he intends to keep fulfilling it, and to keep contributing money as he has been all this time.”
