Chrissy Teigen Revealed She Was Almost A Food Network Host

Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings website has made us feel even closer to one of our favorite celeb chefs. On the site, she answers fan questions and almost nothing is off-limits. In a response explaining her path into the culinary world, Chrissy admitted she was almost a Food Network host. This is not a drill.

The fan’s question asked Chrissy about any advice she had for others that aspire to follow in her footsteps. It also asked her what her favorite comfort food is, but we’ll get to that later.

Chrissy has been super candid in her website responses, and you can tell she takes a lot of time to write thoughtful answers. We pretty much get the entire run-down of her process in becoming the Chrissy we all know and love. She explained that many years ago she was approached by someone asking if she wanted to write a cookbook, but at the time she didn’t feel she was credible enough for that yet.

But! Things get interesting when she talked about her experience working with Food Network: “I found out the Food Network was looking for new talent. They set up a program for me to learn all the basics and ANYTHING else I was curious about,” Chrissy wrote.

She said she would go to a test kitchen every day and learned everything she would need to know as a host like how to describe the food and talk through a recipe. Although Chrissy credits the experience for teaching her so much, she knows that being in front of the camera when it comes to cooking isn’t for her.

“In the end, I actually realized I did NOT have a talent for talking and cooking at the same time,” she went on. “And I’ve always been more of the curious type than an expert. I worried that I would look silly in comparison to the greats that do it so well (Ina, Giada, etc).”

Thanks for the honesty, Chrissy, but we think you would’ve been amazing as the next Food Network star! I guess we’ll just have to imagine what could have been. Oh, and as for her favorite comfort food…her mom’s scalloped potatoes, because DUH.
