Grey’s Anatomy donates medical supplies to emergency services amid coronavirus outbreak
Grey’s Anatomy has donated medical supplies to emergency services to help during the coronavirus crisis.
Like the vast majority of scripted TV series, Grey’s has suspended filming due to the virus outbreak.
In its downtime, however, the ABC series has joined a number of other medical shows in providing supplies to emergency services, such as hospitals and fire departments.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Grey’s has been supplying hospitals with gowns and gloves, while Station 19 – a spin-off of the long-running series – donated some of its masks to the City of Ontario Fire Department in California, as well as a firehouse in Los Angeles.
Krista Vernoff, showrunner and executive producer of both shows, said in a statement: “At Station 19, we were lucky enough to have about 300 of the coveted N95 masks which we donated to our local fire station.
“They were tremendously grateful. At Grey’s Anatomy, we have a backstock of gowns and gloves which we are donating as well.
“We are all overwhelmed with gratitude for our healthcare workers during this incredibly difficult time, and in addition to these donations, we are doing our part to help them by staying home.”
In an Instagram post, the Ontario Fire Department said in response: “Thank you to @station19 and @shondaland for the donation of N95 masks to help protect our firefighters during our COVID-19 response.”
