Ellen Pompeo and Richard Flood pose for first picture from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 17 set

The stars of the medical drama are all masked up

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ has re-started production, with season 17 currently being filmed on location in LA.

Medical drama fans you need not worry any longer, as we have photographic evidence that ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 17 is back up and running. Last week it was reported that filming at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital would resume later this month, and now stars Ellen Pompeo and Richard Flood have confirmed the news with a well-covered picture of them both on set.

The actress, whose Instagram tagline reads “Not a real doctor, but a really good fake one”, uploaded a picture of herself with Irish co-star Richard Flood who plays Dr. Cormac Hayes on the medical drama. Both actors posed for a photo opportunity while wearing masks on the LA-based film set.

Pompeo captioned the photo with a serious post dedicated to those people who lost their lives while battles COVID-19. She said: “First time back in my scrubs… since we shut down filming 7000 healthcare workers have died from Covid.

“I dedicate my season 17 to all who have fallen and to every one of you who by the grace of God is still standing… this season is for you with humility and a bit of humour to get us through and endless amounts of gratitude. I hope we do you proud.”

Ellen Pompeo and Richard Flood will be returning to their characters when ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 17 arrives on screens later next year, where it will be addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in a huge way. Screenwriter and showrunner Krista Vernoff said in an interview with People: “We’re going to address this pandemic for sure. There’s no way to be a long-running medical show and not do the medical story of our lifetimes.”
