Tara Reid\u00a0appeared to slur in an interview a week ago while promoting her new TV movie \u2014 and after much speculation, she\u2019s finally speaking out.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Reid, 42, appeared on\u00a0Today Extra<\/em>\u00a0on Australia\u2019s Channel Nine to promote\u00a0The Last\u00a0Sharknado<\/em>, and for much of it, she stumbled over her words, spoke slowly and often trailed off. On Wednesday, she released a statement on the segment, addressing concerns over her health.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to thank my fans from the depths of my soul for their continued support, which has made this\u00a0Sharknado<\/em>\u00a0my most successful one yet,\u201d she wrote, echoing the enthusiasm for the film that she showed in the\u00a0Today Extra<\/em>\u00a0interview. \u201cWe worked harder than ever on this film and also the promotion of the film.\u201d<\/p>\n

Addressing the buzz about her slurring, Reid continued: \u201cWhile it\u2019s unfortunate to see some of the recent negative press following a successful week of promoting and supporting the film, I\u2019m happy to know that my fans continue to stand by me \u2014 this is for them!\u201d<\/p>\n

Before turning to the challenging topic of her health, she brought up her family. \u201cI\u2019m also grateful to have been able to share this moment with my mom, who walked the red carpet with me on Sunday,\u201d she wrote. \u201cShe has been struggling with her health and to have her at my side, for possibly the last time, was so incredibly fulfilling.\u201d<\/p>\n

She insisted that the public has no reason to worry about her, explaining, \u201cI am in great spirits and health and I look forward to my future projects and what\u2019s in store for me next.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Reid is currently promoting\u00a0the sixth and final title of the\u00a0Sharknado<\/em>\u00a0franchise.\u00a0She told\u00a0Today Extra<\/em>\u00a0that\u00a0The Last Sharknado<\/em>\u00a0is \u201cher favorite one,\u201d adding \u201cIt\u2019s so ridiculous, it\u2019s so bad it\u2019s good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans of the over-the-top series will be delighted by Reid\u2019s promises of even more excessively bizarre plot lines than usual, including time travel. \u201cThis one, you guys, honestly is beyond,\u201d she teased. \u201cIt\u2019s just out of control, like, the movie, it \u2026 it does, it takes every step to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reid is known for her struggles with alcoholism and a hard-partying lifestyle. In 2008, she told PEOPLE she was a \u201csocial drinker\u201d and did not use drugs, explaining \u201cI\u2019ve done enough [partying] for a lifetime.\u201d But in December that year, she\u00a0checked into a rehabilitation facility. A source revealed to PEOPLE at the time, \u201cTara has a problem with alcohol. It\u2019s been at the root of much discomfort between herself and her family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
