On Tuesday, a source who knows the couple told PEOPLE that their decision to file for divorce was not unexpected.<\/p>\n

\u201cHolly and Pasquale had been having trouble for some time,\u201d the source says of the former<\/p>\n

Playboy<\/em>\u00a0model and the Electric Daisy Carnival founder. \u201cThis wasn\u2019t a sudden decision.<\/p>\n

They had a lot in common, but they were also very different people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added the source: \u201cHolly is an amazing mom and will do what\u2019s best for her kids.<\/p>\n

They still care about each other and will remain in each other\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

PEOPLE confirmed via multiple sources on Tuesday morning\u00a0that Rotella and the 38-year-old<\/p>\n

reality TV star had split over the summer,\u00a0with another source revealing that Madison is<\/p>\n

now based in Los Angeles and \u201cdoing okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Blast\u00a0reported that Rotella, 44, filed for divorce on Aug. 31 in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

Rotella later\u00a0confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing that he and his wife \u2014 who share daughter<\/p>\n

Rainbow Aurora, 5, and son\u00a0Forest Leonardo Antonio, 2, together \u2014 have separated as a couple.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with love in our hearts and a deep respect for one another that<\/p>\n

Holly and I have amicably made the decision to separate,\u201d\u00a0Rotella wrote in the\u00a0caption<\/p>\n

of a sweet family photo. \u201cFirst and foremost, we are forever partners and parents to two<\/p>\n

beautiful children, and are fully committed to raising them in an environment filled with love and positivity.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to speak highly about Madison, referring to her as a \u201ctalented woman\u201d and \u201cbeautiful soul.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain the best of friends while co-parenting and continuing to support<\/p>\n

one another in our respective passions in life,\u201d Rotella continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough it was not a decision we made hastily or take lightly, Holly and I welcome this<\/p>\n
