\u201cWhen I think back to that particular time period that we\u2019re talking about \u2026 It was heavy. It was dark. It was confusing. It was lonely,\u201d the\u00a0This Is Us<\/em>\u00a0star, 34, told\u00a0Bustle\u00a0in an interview published on Thursday, November 8. \u201cThere was no room for me. There was no room for me to have anything else in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore turned to work as a result. \u201cI put all the emphasis and pressure on, well, I can just dig myself out of this hole by finding fulfillment from a career perspective,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Luckily, the change was good for her in the end.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s no coincidence to me that once I did that hard work, life opened up in a way that I never could have expected,\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore noted. \u201cOnce I did that, it was like, the sun came back out again.<\/p>\n

In every respect I felt like, \u2018Oh, now I\u2019m living the life that I\u2019m supposed to be living.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201dHowever, a series of professional setbacks proved the distraction would not be enough to make her happier.<\/p>\n

\u201cI exhausted every effort before I was like, \u2018OK, well, that has to be addressed,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose monumental shifts in your life \u2026 they come at a big cost. It wasn\u2019t a decision that I made flippantly.\u201d The<\/p>\n

\u201cCandy\u201d singer\u00a0filed for divorce\u00a0from Adams, 44, in January 2015 after six years of marriage.<\/p>\n

\"BBPuDu0\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The\u00a0A Walk to Remember<\/em>\u00a0actress landed her iconic role on\u00a0This Is Us<\/em>\u00a0and started\u00a0dating her now-fianc\u00e9,\u00a0Taylor Goldsmith<\/strong>, shortly thereafter. She told\u00a0Us Weekly<\/em>\u00a0exclusively in September that she was\u00a0\u201ca little bit\u201d in wedding mode.<\/p>\n

Still, Moore became emotional when talking about her return to music, pointing out that she \u201callowed other people to make [her] feel bad\u201d about wanting to pick it back up. \u201cWe do ourselves such a disservice. And I think, not to make a generalization, but I think it often afflicts women more than men, where we make ourselves feel so small to make other people comfortable,\u201d she said. \u201cI think I did that for so long because I was scared of ruffling feathers. I just didn\u2019t want to cause trouble. I felt like somebody else was more important. Somebody else\u2019s choices or time, or whatever, should come before me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Princess Diaries<\/em>\u00a0star previously spoke out about feeling \u201cspiritually and fundamentally stuck\u201d in her first marriage. \u201cI didn\u2019t choose the right person,\u201d she said in an October profile for\u00a0Glamour<\/em>. \u201cI don\u2019t feel guilty for [the divorce]. I don\u2019t fault myself for it. When people said, \u2018I\u2019m sorry,\u2019 I was like, \u2018No. Sorry would have been had I stayed in a very unhealthy situation.\u2019 I didn\u2019t. I found my way out. And when I did, things opened back up again.\u201d<\/p>\n
