,\u00a0<\/em>with Kroeger helping cowrite the empowerment anthem \u201cWarrior.\u201d The song \u2014 like many on Lavigne\u2019s new record \u2014 is inspired by her debilitating battle with Lyme disease.<\/p>\n\u201cI\u2019m really grateful to have had someone like him in my life who cared while I was getting back up on my feet,\u201d Lavigne says of working with her ex amid her health crisis.<\/p>\n
Lavigne and Kroeger\u00a0split in 2015\u00a0after two years, but there are no hard feelings between the pair.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe took me under his wing, he got me in the studio, he recorded me, he was very encouraging. He helped me with some of the songs that I wrote, because he\u2019s such a good songwriter \u2014 I\u2019d be stuck on a lyric or stuck on a part, and he\u2019d help me finish a song if I couldn\u2019t and he would record it,\u201d Lavigne says.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s just always been a cheerleader of mine and always been such a huge fan. He\u2019s in my corner, he\u2019s on my side, and he\u2019s always been really great,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t the first time Lavigne has stayed friendly with an ex following a divorce. She and her first husband, Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley, split in 2009 after three years together. But they went on to team up for her 2011 album\u00a0Goodbye Lullaby<\/em>, on which Whibley is credited as a producer and engineer.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/nasimword.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/BBTAh14.jpg\")

Lavigne began writing songs for\u00a0Head Above Water<\/em>, her sixth album and first since 2013, during her devastating battle with Lyme disease. The singer says she was bedridden for two years as she treated the disease with antibiotics and herbs. And she leaned on family, her faith and songwriting in her darkest moments.<\/p>\n\u201cMusic really lifted me up and made me feel better,\u201d she says. \u201cAt first I didn\u2019t know I was making an album \u2014 I just naturally turned to songwriting in a time of healing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Today, Lavigne \u2014 who has been\u00a0linked to\u00a0Phillip Sarofim since last April \u2014 is still managing her disease but is happy and healthier.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m in a good place,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s important to live your life to the fullest every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
