The actors worked together for the first time in Quentin Tarantino\u2019s upcoming\u00a0Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,<\/em>\u00a0in which 44-year-old DiCaprio stars as Rick Dalton, a fading actor struggling to keep his star alive in Tinseltown. At one point in the film, he tears up upon realizing he\u2019s a \u201chas-been\u201d while confiding in his former stunt double, assistant and buddy, Cliff Booth, played by\u00a0Pitt, 55.<\/p>\n\u201cI think we’re all aware there’s a shelf life on this,\u201d Pitt said when asked if he\u2019s ever felt the momentum on his own career dying down during an interview with NBC\u2019s Harry Smith, which aired on Monday’s\u00a0Today<\/em>. \u201cBut it’s really important to me the people I spend my time with and the artists that I respect.\u201d<\/p>\n“So, I don’t know what went wrong on this one!” he jokingly added.<\/p>\n
DiCaprio noted that some of the actors he admires the most have\u00a0faced many ups and downs in their careers.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou look at the trajectory and the careers of some of the greatest actors that I’ve admired and they ebb and flow,\u201d he said. \u201cThere’s good times and there’s bad times and hopefully you could just be in the race as a long-distance runner is the only hope —\u00a0and not burn out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pitt recently spoke further about age in Hollywood during an interview with\u00a0GQ Australia<\/em>, in which he admitted to a fear of becoming\u00a0a \u201cdinosaur\u201d in showbiz.<\/p>\n“I keep doing less and less,” he said about acting. “I really believe that overall it’s a younger man\u2019s game —\u00a0not that there aren’t substantial parts for older characters — I just feel, the game itself, it’ll move on naturally. There will be a natural selection to it all.”<\/p>\n
Regardless of whether the pair ever feels too old to star\u00a0on the big screen, there is something else they can do together at any age — record a Christmas album!<\/p>\n
Pitt\u00a0joked about the idea during the\u00a0Today<\/em>\u00a0show interview after he and DiCaprio were asked if they would want to work together again.<\/p>\n\u201cOf course,\u201d Pitt said.\u00a0\u201cWe talked about doing Jerry Lee Lewis, Dean Martin stories \u2026 I want to do a Christmas album.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
