O\u2019Donnell, 58, said Karlan\u2019s words were \u201ctaken out of context.\u201d Karlan initially received backlash on Wednesday for using Barron Trump\u2019s first name as an example while discussing the Constitution.<\/p>\n
Karlan said on Wednesday: \u201cThe Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can\u2019t make him a baron.”<\/p>\n
O’Donnell defended the professor, saying to TMZ: \u201cI don\u2019t think that she did anything wrong. She was trying to say that he\u2019s not a king. You could have a child named Barron but he can\u2019t make him a baron.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was trying to say that he\u2019s not a king,\u201d the former “View” co-host added.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell then continued to bash President Trump, calling him a \u201cterrible human\u201d and a \u201ccruel man.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Thursday, \u201cThe View\u201d co-hosts debated over Karlan\u2019s words.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe they missed this part but she was not speaking about the child,\u201d Whoopi Goldberg said. \u201cShe was speaking about his name and how it played into what he could not do. He cannot take a title. She was not being disrespectful or nasty.\u201d<\/p>\n
Melania Trump responded on Twitter to Karlan name-dropping her 13-year-old son.<\/p>\n
\u201cA minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it,\u201d the first lady wrote.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Donnell said to TMZ that the nation is in trouble.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe democracy itself is at stake. So if this is not impeachable, what is impeachable?\u201d<\/p>\n
