A true original, actor Justin Chambers has announced his departure from “Grey’s Anatomy”. Chambers, like lead actress Ellen Pompeo, has been a part of the medical drama since the very beginning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that\u2019s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years,\u201d Chambers said in a statement to\u00a0Deadline<\/em>. \u201cFor some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices.”<\/p>\n

“And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time,” he expressed.<\/p>\n

Chambers also acknowledged show creator Shonda Rhimes and the remaining original cast members.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I move on from ‘Grey\u2019s Anatomy’, I want to thank the ABC family, Shonda Rimes, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, and the rest of the amazing cast and crew, both past and present, and, of course, the fans for an extraordinary ride,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
