Even though no, I\u2019m off chicken now.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"outstream_article\" dir=\"ltr\" data-id=\"60\" data-m=\"{&quot;i&quot;:60,&quot;p&quot;:58,&quot;n&quot;:&quot;article-inlineOutstreamAd&quot;,&quot;t&quot;:&quot;inlineOutstreamAd&quot;,&quot;o&quot;:2}\">\n<div id=\"inlineoutstreamcontainer\" class=\"inlineOutstreamContainer\">\n<div id=\"apn_display_container_v1j1b3qzq18\" class=\"\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cNot chicken anymore,\u201d Susan Downey admonished.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI\u2019m going plant-based! For cash and legumes,\u201d Downey Jr. added facetiously.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Helmed by\u00a0<strong>Stephen Gaghan<\/strong>, the upcoming remake of the 1967 film \u201cDoctor Dolittle\u201d follows the story of the beloved literary character, an eccentric physician and veterinarian gifted with the ability to speak to animals. The 2020 version initially finds Dolittle as an unshaven recluse who is drawn out of seclusion when he forced on a mission to save the dying Queen Victoria.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dolittle is accompanied by self-appointed apprentice Tommy Stubbins (<strong>Harry Collett<\/strong>) and his coterie of exotic animals, voiced by a star-studded cast including\u00a0<strong>Selena Gomez,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Rami Malek<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>John Cena, Michael Sheen<\/strong>, Emma Thompson, Octavia Spencer and Kumail Nanjiani.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Walking the green carpet which featured with oversized topiaries of the animals the actors portrayed, Gomez explained how she came to voice Betsy the giraffe. \u201cIf they would have called me any time in the world, I would have said yes, Gomez told\u00a0<em>Variety<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBut luckily the director\u2019s daughter (Betsy Gaghan) was a huge fan of mine and I\u2019m actually named after her, the character. So, it\u2019s really sweet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Gomez was also celebrating the release of \u201cRare\u201d, her first studio album in more than four years, which dropped the day before the premiere.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIt\u2019s been cool,\u201d Gomez said of the reaction thus far. \u201cI didn\u2019t know what was going to happen and I think that I had waited so long that I wasn\u2019t sure if I had waited too long.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Not that I thought I would be forgotten, more so I didn\u2019t even know how I was going to tell my story. And it all worked out really well even to the end of last year, putting final songs on this album. So, it was really important, and you could see the story go through the album and track listing really well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Gomez\u2019s albums typically spark speculation surrounding the inspirations and meanings behind particular tracks, but the singer told\u00a0<em>Variety\u00a0<\/em>she believes her songs are relatable and can be interpreted in many different ways. \u201cOf course, I know the meaning but someone else can take that meaning as well,\u201d Gomez observed. \u201cEveryone has felt the emotions that I have felt. I know I\u2019m not a freak. It\u2019s something that we all go through. We all go through hardships, breakups, complications with yourself, getting your mind out of just a bad place. So, I think it\u2019s pretty obvious if you ask me, but I want people to make that their own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Speaking of her future aspirations, the actress and producer teased that fans might soon see her career take a new direction. \u201cThe thing I\u2019m most excited about is to be able to do things that I\u2019ve always dreamed of. I have a few things coming out this summer that I\u2019m excited about that will be me stepping into another lane.
