It’s been an emotional week for pop songs about dads.
\nJames Blunt brought thousands of people to tears last week when he revealed new song ‘Monsters’, which is about his father Charles who has stage 4 kidney disease.<\/p>\n

Now, Camila Cabello’s performance of her song ‘First Man’ at the Grammys last night has caused a similar blubfest.<\/p>\n

The song, taken from her recent album ‘Romance’, is an ode to her father and is about finding love and the bond between father and daughter. Lyrics include “You held me so tight, now someone else can \/ But you were the first man that really loved me.”<\/p>\n

It’s an emotional song anyway – but when Cabello sang it directly to her father Alejandro, who was crying in the front row as he watched his little girl perform at the world’s biggest music ceremony , it made it doubly so.<\/p>\n

Videos of the young Camila and her dad were also projected on stage as she sang.<\/p>\n

She shared the story of how she wrote the song on Instagram, saying: “A year ago last October I was in Nashville while on tour and I wanted to get in the studio and write because I hadn\u2019t had the chance for quite a while.. i came in with a bunch of ideas but suddenly I just started thinking about my dad and missing him and thinking about how much he means to me.<\/p>\n

“I had to go to the bathroom and just sob every 10 minutes writing this song, I could barely get through it and I almost didn\u2019t tonight.. thank you to my dad for showing me what it is to love someone selflessly , for making me always laugh when I cry, for being my constant safety and arms to fall into. \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n
