Rihanna<\/a>\u00a0took to Instagram on Friday evening to express the ‘magnitude of devastation, anger, sadness’ she feels over the murder of\u00a0George Floyd.<\/p>\n

‘Watching my people get murdered and lynched day after day pushed me to a heavy place in my heart! To the point of staying away from socials, just to avoid hearing the blood curdling agony in George Floyd\u2019s voice again, begging over and over for his life,’ began the 32-year-old singer in her post.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Floyd – an unarmed, African-American male – experienced a horrific death at the hands of police\u00a0in Minneapolis, Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Rihanna continued: ‘The look of enticement, the pure joy and climax on the face of this bigot, murderer, thug, pig, bum, Derek Chauvin, haunts me!! I can\u2019t shake this!<\/p>\n

‘I can\u2019t get over an ambulance pulling up to an arrest, a paramedic checking a pulse without removing the very thing that\u2019s hindering it! Is this that f*cking normal???<\/p>\n

‘If intentional MURDER is the fit consequence for \u201cdrugs\u201d or \u201cresisting arrest\u201d….then what\u2019s the fit consequence for MURDER,’ she concluded.<\/p>\n

The Minneapolis policeman accused of killing Floyd, Derek Chauvin, was taken into custody Friday and charged with third-degree murder,<\/p>\n

At the tail end of her post, the Diamond singer hashtagged Floyd’s full name as well as the names of two other African-American civilians,\u00a0Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, who lost their lives due to police brutality earlier this year.<\/p>\n

In the horrifying video footage referenced by Rihanna in her post, Floyd is seen saying that he can not breathe as the officer kneeled on his neck.<\/p>\n

Eventually he went silent and limp, and he was later declared dead.<\/p>\n

Protests swelled after federal authorities said Thursday that they were making the case a top priority but announced no arrests at that time.<\/p>\n

The death of 46-year-old Floyd has sparked days of sometimes violent demonstrations in Minneapolis and other US cities over police brutality against African-Americans.<\/p>\n

Rihanna is one of many celebrities that have chosen to address Floyd’s unjust demise on social media.<\/p>\n

Minutes after Rihanna’s passionate post, fellow music icon Beyonce uploaded a video urging her following to ‘demand more charges’ be brought ‘on all those involved in the death of George Floyd.’<\/p>\n

‘We need justice for George Floyd. We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight,’ began the Grammy Award-winner.<\/p>\n

We’re broken and we’re disgusted and we cannot normalize this pain,’ said Beyonce, before emphasizing that she is ‘not\u00a0not only speaking to people of color.’<\/p>\n

‘If you are white, black, brown, or anything in between, I’m sure you feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now.’<\/p>\n

She said that although Chauvin has been charged in Floyd’s murder, ‘justice is far from being achieved.’<\/p>\n

Drake joined the open dialogue surrounding Floyd’s murder on Instagram Friday evening by sharing a poem with his 67.2million Instagram followers.<\/p>\n

Rest in heaven George Floyd,’ captioned the God’s Plan rapper, followed by a red rose emoji.<\/p>\n
