The eighth season is still on the way – but when will it hit?
\nAndy Samberg AKA Detective Jake Peralta has spoken out about what the future of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is looking like. The actor-turned-producer of the cop comedy series revealed what the team have been working towards, following the Black Lives Matter movement kicking into overdrive in recent months.<\/p>\n
So, how can he and the team make a cop comedy series in the political climate? In an interview with People recently, Samberg spoke of the complexities now involved in bringing the police comedy series back for a new eighth season.<\/p>\n
He told the publication: “We’re taking a step back, and the writers are all rethinking how we’re going to move forward, as well as the cast. We’re all in touch and kind of discussing how you make a comedy show about police right now, and if we can find a way of doing that that we all feel morally okay about.<\/p>\n
“I know that we’ll figure it out, but it’s definitely a challenge, so we’ll see how it goes.”<\/p>\n
Samberg’s co-star Terry Crews received backlash recently, following his tweet which read: “We must ensure #blacklivesmatter doesn\u2019t morph into #blacklivesbetter”.<\/p>\n
Due to producers scrapping episodes from the newest season, fans hoping to see the eighth season later this year will most likely have to wait until 2021. Although not confirmed, with the team now going back to the drawing board, and it already being July, we might be in for another arduous wait.<\/p>\n
Andy Samberg will next be on our screens in the new time-loop romantic comedy ‘Palm Springs’, which will hit Irish cinemas some point soon.<\/p>\n
