Hugh Jackman<\/a>\u00a0and wife\u00a0Deborra-lee Furness<\/a>\u00a0have made the most of their isolated time together.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The 51-year-old actor \u2014 who\u00a0received an Emmy nomination<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday for his performance in the HBO movie\u00a0Bad Education<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u2014 shared with\u00a0Extra<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that being under lockdown with his wife during the pandemic has brought the two of them undeniably “closer.” The couple married in 1996 and share two children,\u00a0Oscar<\/a>, 20, and\u00a0Ava<\/a>, 15.<\/p>\n

“Literally, my wife is dancing behind the camera as we speak,” Jackman said with a laugh. “We were just saying the other day \u2014 we have never spent this much time together. But having this time without either of us working, being with the family \u2026\u00a0 we’ve had this opportunity to be together, and the results are in: closer.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Back in March, Jackman told PEOPLE that he and Furness, 64,\u00a0are sure to “make time for each other,”<\/a>\u00a0and that they are “always learning” from one another.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“We\u2019re always learning, and humans change so you have to; even though we\u2019ve been together 25 years, you’ve got to reset all the time,” he said at the time. “I\u2019m always reeling in how funny she is and how amazing she is and how smart she is. The longer it goes on the better it gets.”<\/p>\n

The Greatest Showman<\/em>\u00a0actor\u00a0previously told PEOPLE<\/a>\u00a0about meeting his longtime love and how their relationship initially began.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“My first job out of drama school \u2014 it was a massive break for me. I was really scared,” Jackman said about starring on the Australian TV series\u00a0Correlli<\/em>. “Deb, she was a big star. I get picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car. I\u2019ll never forget: she took off her seatbelt and she turned around and put out her hand and took off her sunglasses and said, \u2018Hi, I\u2019m Deborra-lee Furness, nice to meet you.\u2019”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He added: “I remember thinking, \u2018I like this girl.’ “<\/p>\n

Six weeks later, Jackman worked up the courage\u00a0to ask her out. After avoiding her for a week, Furness confronted Jackman during a dinner party with friends.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I invited 20 people [over for dinner]. She came over and I said, \u2018Deb, give me a hand with the dessert,'” he recalled. “She said, \u2018I noticed you haven\u2019t talked to me in like a week, what\u2019s going on?\u2019 I said, \u2018I got a crush on you. I\u2019ll get over it, I\u2019m sorry.\u2019 She goes, \u2018Oh? Because I\u2019ve got a crush on you too.\u2019 I never in a million years thought she reciprocated.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In April, the\u00a0X-Men<\/em>\u00a0actor posted a heartfelt message on\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0to celebrate\u00a0his 24th wedding anniversary<\/a>, writing that “these 24 years have been the best of my life!” Jackman added: “And, as far as I can see, we keep getting better.
