The Boys\u00a0<\/i>is returning for its second season next month, but the superhero series is already looking ahead to season three with news of a cast addition. Jensen Ackles is joining the series. He is currently wrapping up the final season of\u00a0Supernatural<\/em><\/a>\u00a0which will return to The CW in\u00a0October<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Amazon<\/a>\u00a0revealed more about the casting in a press release.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazon Prime Video has announced that Jensen Ackles (Supernatural<\/i>) will be joining the cast of the hit series\u00a0The Boys<\/i><\/a>\u00a0for Season 3. The casting news was made on Ackles\u2019 social media account. Ackles will portray Soldier Boy \u2013 the original Superhero. After Soldier Boy fought in World War II, he became the first super celebrity, and a mainstay of American culture for decades.<\/p>\n

Showrunner and Executive Producer of\u00a0The Boys<\/i>\u00a0Eric Kripke stated, \u201cWhen I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream \u2013 to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I\u2019m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he\u2019ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can\u2019t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of\u00a0Supernatural<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0The Boys<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pick-up of Season 3 of\u00a0The Boys<\/i>\u00a0was announced during their SDCC panel on July 23rd. Season 2 will premiere on Friday,\u00a0September 4th<\/b>, with new episodes available weekly through October 9th<\/sup>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
