Galway-based American musician Peter Broderick was once best known as a member of Danish post-rockers Efterklang, but since 2007 he has been releasing a fascinating and eclectic body of solo material.<\/h3>\n

His most recent work is ‘Blackberry’, an album that was surprise-released last Friday.<\/p>\n

That gave us the perfect opportunity for Peter to answer our ’10 Questions’…<\/p>\n

1. What\u2019s the music that you listened to growing up, that you still listen to today?<\/strong>
\nJoni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Philip Glass, Arvo P\u00e4rt.<\/p>\n

2. In three words, describe the minute before you walk on stage.<\/strong>
\nAwesomely uncomfortable anticipation.<\/p>\n

3. How do you wind down after a gig?<\/strong>
\nOh, the days of gigs! Most of the time I like to chat with people who come to a show and chat with venue staff while packing down equipment. If I\u2019m traveling alone, I\u2019ll go to wherever I\u2019m staying and listen to a podcast or read a book and maybe do some stretching and\/or meditation. If I\u2019m traveling with friends I might go for a drink or play some cards, but I don\u2019t usually go too wild\u2026<\/p>\n

4. What\u2019s the one song you wish you\u2019d written or recorded first?<\/strong>
\n‘As I Roved Out’ (There are several tunes with this title… I\u2019m referring to a slow ballad that Andy Irvine sang with the group Planxty.)<\/p>\n

5. You can only have three albums on your phone\/in your house at any one time – what three would you pick for today?<\/strong>

\nForaging and fishing all day with a few great friends, with a bit of swimming in the sea or a lake, culminating with a giant bonfire, cooking a big feast together and then playing some tunes.<\/p>\n

10. Tell us, in one sentence, why we should come to your next gig (whenever it happens)…<\/strong>
\nI will not waste your precious f***ing time.<\/p>\n
