Surprise! Mindy Kaling has a new son.<\/p>\n
The star of \u201cThe Mindy Project,\u201d 41, secretly gave birth to her second child in September \u2014 without ever telling the world she was pregnant.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m telling it for the first time now \u2026 I gave birth to a baby boy on September 3,\u201d Kaling announced on \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert\u201d on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
She named her baby boy Spencer.<\/p>\n
Little Spencer joins almost 3-year-old sister Katherine, who Kaling said \u201cis a huge fan\u201d of the baby now that she knows he can\u2019t yet take her toys.<\/p>\n
Kaling said she was able to keep her pregnancy quiet from the world because \u201cno one saw me\u201d amid the coronavirus pandemic. She also noted that she felt \u201cstrange\u201d sharing her happy news during this time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was so much going on, so much heartbreak in the world that it felt strange to go out of my way to shine a light on some giant health information,\u201d she told Colbert.<\/p>\n
Kaling hasn\u2019t revealed the father of either Spencer or Katherine. Her \u201cOffice\u201d co-star and close pal B.J. Novak is godfather to both children.<\/p>\n
When Colbert asked if Novak is involved, as is tradition, in the spiritual development and education of the kids, Kaling joked: \u201cIt\u2019s hard because the concept of a godfather is a Christian thing.
