Jay-Z and\u00a0Team ROC, the social justice arm of the rapper’s ROC Nation company, offered Friday\u00a0to pay the fees associated with the arrests of peaceful protesters in\u00a0Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Among those arrested Thursday\u00a0were\u00a0Cole’s\u00a0mother and two\u00a0sisters, according to Didier Morais, a spokesperson for Team ROC.<\/p>\n

Protesters took to the streets<\/a>\u00a0this week\u00a0after Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced Wednesday that\u00a0police officer\u00a0Joseph Mensah, who fired the shots that killed 17-year-old Cole, will not face criminal charges. Cole is\u00a0the third person\u00a0Mensah\u00a0fatally shot in the last five years.<\/a><\/p>\n

In addition to offering monetary support for the protesters, Jay-Z and his Team ROC have also called for Mensah to be\u00a0prosecuted\u00a0and terminated and have asked\u00a0Wisconsin Governor Tony\u00a0Evers to hire\u00a0a special prosecutor to ensure justice is served.<\/p>\n

Chisholm said Mensah acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Cole in the Mayfair mall parking lot.\u00a0The decision marked\u00a0the third time Chisholm has cleared Mensah in an on-duty fatal shooting.<\/p>\n

Wauwatosa readied for\u00a0possible protests and unrest over Chisholm’s Wednesday decision\u00a0and set a 7 p.m. curfew through Monday. Soon after the announcement, more\u00a0than 100 protesters marched onto the I-94 freeway during rush hour.<\/p>\n

Multiple people\u00a0who witnessed the arrests said Cole’s relatives \u2014\u00a0Tracy, Taleavia and Tristiana Cole \u2014 were taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m., along with several others.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0Facebook livestream<\/a>\u00a0taken from inside the Cole car during the protests\u00a0revealed a chaotic scene\u00a0in which law enforcement officers threatened the use of Tasers\u00a0while taking Tracy Cole, 48, into custody.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m Alvin Cole\u2019s mother,” Tracy Cole screamed repeatedly as officers pulled her out of her car and handcuffed her, according to the livestream.<\/p>\n

“I cant believe y\u2019all did this to me.\u00a0Y\u2019all killed my son,” she screamed to the officers.<\/p>\n

“I can’t breathe,” she repeated.<\/p>\n

An officer responds, \u201cWell, that\u2019s too bad,” according to the livestream.<\/p>\n

Tracy Cole said her head was bleeding and she believed her arm was broken, according to the livestream.<\/p>\n

Family attorney Kimberley Motley said Tracy Cole was taken to Froedtert Hospital with an injury to her arm\u00a0and forehead. One daughter, Tristiana, was taken there as well.<\/p>\n

At 11:39 p.m. CDT, Motley\u00a0tweeted the two had been released from the hospital, adding:\u00a0“Police refusing to give answer on where Taleavia Cole has been taken.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
