On Tuesday, dick clark productions and NBC announced that\u00a0John Legend<\/a>\u00a0will give a special performance of\u00a0“Never Break”<\/a>\u00a0from his latest album\u00a0Bigger Love<\/em>\u00a0during the Wednesday night awards show.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The appearance will mark Legend’s first performance since announcing earlier this month that he and wife\u00a0Chrissy Teigen<\/a>\u00a0suffered a pregnancy loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Also announced is that\u00a0Kelly Clarkson<\/a>, who’ll be hosting the BBMAs for her third time, will open the evening’s ceremony with a performance of\u00a0Whitney Houston<\/a>‘s “Higher Love.”\u00a0Pentatonix<\/a>\u00a0and percussionist Sheila E. will join Clarkson for the showcase.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

These new additions join\u00a0previously announced BBMAs performers<\/a>, including:\u00a0Demi Lovato<\/a>,\u00a0Sia<\/a>,\u00a0En Vogue<\/a>,\u00a0Christina Aguilera<\/a>,\u00a0Alicia Keys<\/a>,\u00a0Bad Bunny<\/a>,\u00a0Luke Combs<\/a>,\u00a0Post Malone<\/a>,\u00a0BTS<\/a>,\u00a0Brandy<\/a>,\u00a0Ty Dolla $ign<\/a>,\u00a0Kane Brown<\/a>,\u00a0Luke Combs<\/a>,\u00a0Doja Cat<\/a>,\u00a0Khalid<\/a>,\u00a0Swae Lee<\/a>,\u00a0Garth Brooks<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0SAINt JHN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In September, the\u00a0BBMA revealed the 2020 crop of nominees<\/a>, led by Post Malone with 16 nominations, Lil Nas X with 13 nominations, and\u00a0Billie Eilish<\/a>\u00a0and Khalid tied with 12 each.\u00a0Lizzo<\/a>\u00a0follows with 11.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The show \u2014 originally scheduled for April 29 in Las Vegas but was\u00a0postponed<\/a>\u00a0due to the pandemic \u2014 will now broadcast live on Wednesday. Clarkson, 38, said she’s “thrilled to be back” hosting for her third consecutive year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I’m thrilled to be back with my Billboard family,” Clarkson said in a statement when she was first announced as host in February, according to\u00a0Billboard<\/i><\/a>. “I love being part of an event that celebrates our greatest artists and entertains our fans. This is a night of music that you won’t want to miss!”<\/p>\n

Last year,\u00a0Drake<\/a>\u00a0ended the night setting a new\u00a0record with 27 total BBMA wins<\/a>, besting\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/a>\u00a0for the title of all-time most awarded artist.\u00a0Cardi B<\/a>\u00a0had a big night, as well, winning six of her 21 nominations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Wednesday, Brooks, 58, will be\u00a0honored with the award show’s Icon Award<\/a>. The country star will be only the ninth artist to receive the honor,\u00a0following: Neil Diamond (2011), Stevie Wonder (2012), Prince (2013), Jennifer Lopez (2014), C\u00e9line Dion (2016), Cher (2017), Janet Jackson (2018) and Mariah Carey (2019).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
