Simon Cowell has been pictured back on his feet for the first time since he broke his back.<\/p>\n

The 61-year-old put on a happy display as he joined girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 43, and son Eric, six, on a shopping trip in Los Angeles on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Music mogul Simon, who was thrown off an electric bike in August and broke his back in three places, appeared to be on the mend as he walked about with his family.<\/p>\n

Clad in a face mask and showcasing his golden tan in a pair of shorts and grey T-shirt, the\u00a0X Factor<\/a>\u00a0judge strolled along with ease as he carried a shopping bag from an upmarket beauty shop.<\/p>\n

Glamorous Lauren cut a chic figure in a grey sweater teamed with skinny jeans and little Eric modelled shorts and a T-shirt decorated with a lightening bolt motif.<\/p>\n

The trio – who appeared to be accompanied by a personal body guard during their shopping excursion – looked relaxed as they mooched about.<\/p>\n

Simon was seen for the first time since his accident, which led to him being rushed to hospital in Malibu, at his 61st birthday party last week.<\/p>\n

He appeared on the\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0Stories of close pal and ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour as they marked his big day with a cake.<\/p>\n

In footage filmed by Terri, who dated Simon between 2002 and 2008, her daughter Coco and Simon’s son Eric, both five, are beside themselves with excitement as they sing Happy Birthday.<\/p>\n

The star was only seen sat in a chair in the footage shared from the bash.<\/p>\n

Simon’s terrifying accident has reportedly made him realise that he isn’t invincible as he counts his blessings that he is on the road to recovery.<\/p>\n

A friend of Simon’s told\u00a0The Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0: “He definitely no longer feels invincible and this has been a wake up for him about his health and lifestyle.<\/p>\n

“He was nearly paralysed and feels lucky to be recovering at all.”<\/p>\n

And it’s claimed the life-changing incident has lead him to consider finally popping the question to his girlfriend Lauren Silverman – who he has been in a relationship with since 2013.<\/p>\n

The source added: “The fall was of life-changing seriousness.<\/p>\n

Some in his circle think it might even make him think again about making a commitment of marriage to Lauren.<\/p>\n
