a bizarre $100,000 lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0against him thrown out of court.<\/p>\nBusinesswoman Kelli Christina was scammed out of $40,000 by an Internet con artist who posed as Pitt and won her over with \u201cdiscussions of marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n
But even after she realized that she wasn\u2019t actually communicating with the Oscar winner, she still sued the real Pitt \u2014 claiming in court papers that he should have done more to protect his fans from impostors.<\/p>\n
But on Thursday a judge dismissed her suit.<\/p>\n
Christina, of Plano, Texas, has claimed that the scammer approached her online in 2018 and asked her to organize a series of fundraisers for Pitt\u2019s Make It Right Foundation, which constructs new homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina.<\/p>\n
In court papers, she said that the fake Pitt asked her for $40,000 to attend the events, but \u201ccanceled\u201d at the last minute each time \u2014 then disappeared with the money.<\/p>\n
She even claimed that the pair developed such a close relationship that they had \u201cdiscussions of marriage,\u201d court docs seen by Page Six said.<\/p>\n
Christina sued Pitt last month, claiming that he should have done more to protect her from a scammer using his name.<\/p>\n
But a judge granted Pitt\u2019s motion to dismiss the case in a Texas court on Thursday, according to court docs seen by Page Six, calling it \u201cmeritless.\u201d<\/p>\n
Christina told Page Six that she would continue to fight, vowing to appeal the judgment.<\/p>\n
She told us that she\u2019s pursuing the suit because she was so disappointed that the real Pitt didn\u2019t help her, even though it was his name being used to trick her.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrad Pitt ignored all [my problems] [for] a year and a half,\u201d she told us in an email. \u201cHe was contacted [about the ordeal] at Make It Right [his production company], Plan B Entertainment, his Los Angeles home and his Beverly Hills attorney [in] the summer of 2019. All problems [were] ignored and yet it\u2019s his name and reputation [being used to defraud people].\u201d<\/p>\n
