In early October, Lana Del Rey was roundly criticized for attending an LA meet-and-greet wearing what appeared to be a bedazzled mesh face mask amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
At the time, fans begged the 35-year-old musician to \u201cwear a real mask,\u201d calling her a \u201cKaren\u201d and \u201ca danger to herself and others\u201d and pointing out that a sheer face covering does nothing to stop the spread of the coronavirus. We were even inspired to find her some safer, more suitable options.<\/p>\n
Now, Del Rey is breaking her silence on the subject \u2014 and claiming that there was more to her mask than meets the eye.<\/p>\n
On Monday, the Michigan Daily tweeted a story about the controversy swirling around the \u201cSummertime Sadness\u201d singer, and Del Rey herself responded.<\/p>\n
\u201cGreat article. The mask had plastic on the inside,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThey\u2019re commonly sewn in by stylists these days. I don\u2019t generally respond to articles because I don\u2019t care. But there ya go. Same goes for everyone\u2019s masks in my video. I\u2019m lucky enough to have a team of people who can do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
