For the sixth time ever and the third year in a row,\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>took home the title of Artist of the Year at the\u00a0American Music Awards<\/a>. This time, however, the star wasn’t around to pick up the prize at the show\u2014and she had a really good reason for skipping.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Taylor\u00a0expressed anger<\/a>\u00a0over her\u00a0former record label, Big Machine\u00a0Label Group, selling her master recordings to\u00a0Scooter Braun<\/strong>, who is the manager of\u00a0Justin Bieber<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Ariana Grande<\/a><\/strong>, and a slew of other high-profile artists. Since, she has vowed to\u00a0rerecord the albums<\/a>\u00a0she made with Big Machine…which is exactly what she was doing on Nov. 22, the night of the AMAs.<\/p>\n

Standing in the recording studio against the backdrop of a zodiac tapestry (hmm, a potential Easter egg for Swifties to uncover?!) Taylor, who surprise dropped her latest\u00a0album\u00a0Folklore<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in July 2020 less than a year after her album\u00a0Lover\u00a0<\/em>was released,\u00a0expressed gratitude over winning the Artist of the Year award.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
