Barack Obama<\/a>\u00a0is saying \u201cyes, you can\u201d to\u00a0Drake<\/a>\u2019s ambition of playing the former president in a biopic.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with Complex\u2019s Speedy Morman, Obama gave the rapper his official \u201cstamp of approval\u201d should the opportunity arise.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants,\u201d Obama told Morman. \u201cI mean, that is a talented, talented brother. So if the time comes and he\u2019s ready\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Obama added that not only does he give Drake his blessing to portray him \u2013 but his daughters would, too.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrake has, more importantly, I think, my household\u2019s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it,\u201d Obama said.<\/p>\n

Drake \u2014 who started his career acting in \u201cDegrassi: The Next Generation\u201d and \u201cCharlie Bartlett\u201d \u2014 first expressed interest in playing Obama in 2010 during an interview with\u00a0Paper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope somebody makes a movie about Obama\u2019s life soon because I could play him. I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don\u2019t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice,\u201d Drake said. \u201cIf you ask anyone who knows me, I\u2019m pretty good at impressions. Slowly but surely, I\u2019m not in the study mode because nobody\u2019s called me about anything, but I just pay attention so when the day comes I\u2019m not scrambling to learn how to speak like him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Obama has been portrayed several times in television and film already \u2014 by Kingsley Ben-Adir on \u201cThe Comey Rule,\u201d Devon Terrell in \u201cBarry\u201d and and Parker Sawyers in \u201cSouthside With You\u201d \u2014 a full biopic of his career in politics has yet to be made. But, with the recent release of Obama\u2019s memoir, \u201cA Promised Land,\u201d there is now a solid base for a potential screenplay.<\/p>\n
