After nearly seven years,\u00a0Kim Kardashian<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Kanye West<\/a>‘s marriage may soon be coming to an end.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to multiple sources, the\u00a0Keeping Up With the Kardashians<\/em>\u00a0star, 40, is preparing to file for divorce from her rapper husband, whom she wed in May 2014.<\/p>\n

“He knows that she’s done. She has had enough, and she told him that she wants some space to figure out her future,” a source tells PEOPLE, adding that West, 43, is bracing for a filing but doesn’t know when it will take place.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“He’s okay. He’s sad, but okay. He knows the inevitable will happen, and he knows that it’s coming soon,” the source adds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As to when Kardashian \u2014 who is working with top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser \u2014 will file, a second source says<\/p>\n

that “it will happen eventually, but she’s waffling.”<\/p>\n

Reps for Kardashian and West did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In December, a source told PEOPLE that the couple “very much live separate lives<\/a>.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“Kim has work and projects that are important to her, and Kanye has his,” the source said. “Their lives don’t overlap much.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But at the time, the source said that “Kim seems happy” and is “very focused on work and causes.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“She strongly believes she can make a change when it comes to prison reform,” the insider added of the reality star, who is\u00a0studying to become a lawyer<\/a>\u00a0and has been vocal about her passion for criminal justice reform.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The pair, who share daughters\u00a0North<\/a>, 7, and\u00a0Chicago<\/a>, 2, and sons\u00a0Saint<\/a>, 5, and\u00a0Psalm<\/a>, who turns 2 in May, weathered a tumultuous summer, with West’s\u00a0unsuccessful presidential bid<\/a>,\u00a0rumors of divorce<\/a>\u00a0and more public drama.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While campaigning in July, West\u00a0divulged deeply personal details<\/a>\u00a0about his family and marriage during rallies and on Twitter. Sources told PEOPLE at the time that West’s campaign came amid\u00a0a new cycle in his bipolar disorder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Shortly after, Kardashian publicly addressed her husband’s bipolar disorder diagnosis in a lengthy statement on social media, asking fans for “compassion<\/a>.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As the summer came to a close, the pair\u00a0reunited in Los Angeles to spend time with their four children<\/a>. However, in September, another series of tweets from West appeared to land their marriage in trouble.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
