His lips are sealed!\u00a0Tom Holland<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0didn\u2019t give anything up when asked about possible cameos in Marvel\u2019s highly-anticipated\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The British actor, 24, sat down with\u00a0Variety<\/em><\/a>\u00a0to discuss the film in a Thursday, February 4, interview. Asked whether\u00a0Tobey Maguire<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Andrew Garfield<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u2014 both of whom previously portrayed the web-slinging superhero \u2014 may appear in\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>, Holland kept coy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI met Andrew once, I met him at the BAFTAs. He was lovely. He was a really nice bloke and we had a nice chat. It was quite soon after\u00a0Spider-Man: Homecoming<\/em>\u00a0had come out. He was really positive and nice,\u201d the Cherry star recalled, adding that he \u201cbumped into Tobey a few times at different parties in L.A.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for whether they\u2019ll appear in the upcoming Marvel movie, which has yet to be named, Holland said in his\u00a0Variety<\/em>\u00a0interview, \u201cIf they are, they haven\u2019t told me yet. That\u2019s something Marvel would do. \u2018So, that\u2019s who that tennis ball was!’\u201d He noted that he hopes Maguire, 45, and Garfield, 37, \u201cenjoy our movies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maguire starred in\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0in 2002. He also appeared in the 2004 and 2007 sequels\u00a0Spider-Man 2<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>. Garfield began portraying the high-flying hero in 2012\u2019s\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man<\/em>. He slipped into the role again two years later for Marvel\u2019s\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n

While Holland wouldn\u2019t give much away about\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>, he did tell\u00a0Variety<\/em>\u00a0that he anticipates the film will be \u201cthe most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWe got a lot more shooting to do. We started before Christmas and shot for like seven weeks. We stopped for the Christmas break, and then we\u2019re starting again. I\u2019m just as excited as everyone else to see it, let alone be a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Avengers: Endgame<\/em>\u00a0star isn\u2019t the only\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>\u00a0star being asked about Maguire and Garfield. Holland\u2019s costar,\u00a0Zendaya<\/strong><\/a>, fielded questions about their potential appearances in December 2020 during an appearance on\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and she was quick to shut it down. The\u00a0Euphoria<\/em>\u00a0actress, 24, who played MJ in\u00a0Spider-Man: Homecoming<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Far From Home<\/em>, told host\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong><\/a>, \u201cI can neither confirm nor deny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Filming for\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>\u00a0started in October 2020 after being delayed because of coronavirus. Holland revealed that he arrived in Atlanta to begin working on the project in a series of Instagram Story videos shared at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s time for Spider-Man 3,\u201d he said in the clip. \u201cLet\u2019s go!\u201d\u00a0Jamie Foxx<\/strong><\/a>, who played Electro in a previous\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0film, is set to appear in the comic book-based film, according to\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0Jake Gyllenhaal<\/strong><\/a>, who faced off with Holland as Mysterio, will also reprise his role.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
