Seven months after his wife,\u00a0Kelly Preston<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0passed away\u00a0after battling\u00a0breast cancer<\/a>, the\u00a0American Crime Story<\/em>\u00a0actor is\u00a0ready to part ways with the mansion he shared with the late actress. The property, which sits on 48 acres, is located on the\u00a0exclusive island enclave of\u00a0Islesboro, Maine. Hello, waterfront views!<\/p>\n

In addition to the\u00a0estate being in a highly desirable area, the mansion\u00a0boasts 42 rooms (with 22 of those being bedrooms)\u2014no, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. The\u00a0Grease<\/em>\u00a0star’s home is\u00a0spacious and roomy (no pun intended)\u00a0enough to be a hotel.<\/p>\n

John and Kelly purchased the idyllic property back in 1991,\u00a0the same year they tied the knot<\/a>. And while the house was built in 1903, the couple hired renowned decorator\u00a0Christopher<\/strong>
\nBoshears\u00a0<\/strong>to jazz it up and add\u00a0finishing touches in 1999, per\u00a0Architectural Digest<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

At the time, John told the magazine the Maine mansion had good bones but just needed some updating. “You could see the potential of the house\u2014in terms of the quality of the wood and craftsmanship, it’s built like a yacht\u2014but there was so much to do,” he shared. “The first month, we had to install a hotel-size furnace system and have the kitchen redone.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

So what does one do with 42 rooms total? Well, the couple let their imagination run wild. For example, they turned the attic into “a\u00a0children’s fantasy-land” that featured\u00a0a stage, schoolroom, playroom and other thematic bedrooms like the Princess Room, the Airplane Room and the Peter Pan Room.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/section>\n
