Patrick Mahomes<\/strong>\u00a0is a girl dad!<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his fianc\u00e9e\u00a0Brittany Matthews\u00a0<\/strong>are officially parents. The 25-year-old stars welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, on Saturday, Feb. 20.<\/p>\n

While the couple didn’t share too many details about their little one\u00a0on Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 21<\/a>, they\u00a0did reveal their daughter’s unique name:\u00a0Sterling Skye Mahomes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

News of their newborn daughter comes one day after Brittany fired back at critics who didn’t like her maternity pics, which she posted on Instagram on Feb. 19\u2014a day before giving birth. “If you don’t have something nice to say,”\u00a0she shared on Instagram Stories<\/a>, “don’t say anything at all.”<\/p>\n

But despite the negative comments, the couple has so much to celebrate these days like their upcoming wedding.<\/p>\n

Patrick and Brittany became high school sweethearts\u00a0after meeting at\u00a0Whitehouse High School in Texas, where she was a\u00a0cheerleader<\/a>\u00a0and he played football. They got engaged in September 2020, when the NFL pro\u00a0popped the question<\/a>\u00a0in a flower-filled box at\u00a0Arrowhead Stadium.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

She took to Instagram to show off her massive diamond ring, writing, “The words you looked into my eyes and said to me at this moment, will NEVER leave my mind! You made this day perfect, you took my entire breath away.”<\/p>\n

Later that month,\u00a0they posted ultrasound images<\/a>\u00a0to let the world know that baby Mahomes was on the way. Brittany\u00a0joked<\/a>, “Mom & Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Patrick spoke\u00a0with reporters<\/a>\u00a0afterward and gushed,\u00a0“Being able to kind of grow up and have these dreams of having a family and playing in the NFL, and for… stuff to start happening and really coming into truth and everything like that, it’s really cool.”<\/p>\n

The new dad went on, “I’m just excited that I have a lot of great people around me and I’m in a great organization and I’m able to live out these dreams day by day.”<\/p>\n

The pair shared their gender reveal video on\u00a0Instagram last October<\/a>, with the family dogs walking out with pink paint on their paws to leave rosy footprints. On\u00a0Twitter<\/a>, Patrick retweeted the\u00a0clip with the hashtag #GirlDad,\u00a0a term that went viral in honor of fellow sports star\u00a0Kobe Bryant<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Brittany, who is a trainer and entrepreneur with Brittany Lynne Fitness, has been documenting her pregnancy journey on Instagram. “Can’t want to be your mama little girl,” she captioned a maternity photoshoot of herself in a\u00a0taffy pink dress.<\/p>\n

She also noted on social media how 2020 was a huge year for the couple, regardless of any of life’s challenges. She wrote on Jan. 1, “Doing it alongside @patrickmahomes made things a little easier, he’s my better half and just the greatest,” adding, “From Patrick winning a Super Bowl, to signing a new Contract, to a world pandemic & quarantining, to standing up for what we believe in & fighting racism, to buying a house, to many vacays with our friends, to making a BABY, getting engaged… 2020 you were a good one to us.”<\/p>\n

Brittany has been by Patrick’s side for many of the\u00a0season’s\u00a0big games, and recently\u00a0called<\/a>\u00a0him “my Fianc\u00e9, Baby Daddy, Dog Daddy & Bestfriend.”<\/p>\n

It’s clear\u00a0their daughter will be on the sidelines in no time at all, with the new momma\u00a0revealing<\/a>\u00a0back in November, “Baby girls starting to make an appearance, she told me she can’t wait for game daysss.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
