Taylor Simone Ledward<\/strong>\u00a0has made her late husband proud.<\/p>\n

During the\u00a02021 Golden Globes<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday, Feb. 28,\u00a0Chadwick Boseman<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0received the\u00a0award<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0Best Actor in a Motion Picture\u2014Drama thanks to his performance in\u00a0Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom<\/em>. His wife had the honors of accepting the award on his behalf.<\/p>\n

“He would thank God,” Taylor began while holding back tears. “He would thank his parents.\u00a0He would thank his ancestors for\u00a0their guidance and their\u00a0sacrifice.\u00a0He would thank his incredible\u00a0team. He\u00a0would thank his team on set.\u00a0He would say something\u00a0beautiful, something inspiring,\u00a0something that would amplify\u00a0that little voice inside us that tells you you can, that tells you to keep\u00a0going, that calls you back to\u00a0what you are meant to be doing\u00a0at this moment in history.”<\/p>\n

Taylor also believed that her husband would thank many talented actors including\u00a0Denzel Washington<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Viola Davis<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I don’t have his words,\u00a0but we have to take all the\u00a0moments to celebrate those we\u00a0love,” she continued. “So thank you\u00a0HFPA for this opportunity to do\u00a0exactly that\u00a0and hun, you keep em coming.\u00a0Thank you.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Chadwick’s Golden Globes win comes six months after the actor\u00a0passed away at the age of 43<\/a>\u00a0after a battle with colon cancer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Earlier this year, Chadwick’s wife\u00a0accepted an Actor Tribute at the 30th Annual IFP Gotham Awards in his honor.<\/p>\n

During the moving speech, Taylor\u00a0noted her late husband’s purpose<\/a>\u00a0in life and dedication to his craft.<\/p>\n

“As an artist, an actor, and a person, Chad made a practice of telling the truth,” she shared. “He is the most honest person I’ve ever met. Because he didn’t just stop at speaking the truth, he actively searched for it\u2014in himself, in those around him and in the moment.\u00a0The truth can be a very easy thing for the self to avoid, but if one does not live in truth, then it’s impossible to live in line with a divine purpose for your life. And so, it became how he lived his life, day in, day out. Imperfect, but determined.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Riz Ahmed<\/strong>,\u00a0Anthony Hopkins<\/strong>,\u00a0Gary Oldman<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Tahar Ramin<\/strong>\u00a0were also nominated for\u00a0Best Actor in a Motion Picture\u2014Drama at the annual award show.<\/p>\n
