Justin Bieber won\u2019t attend the 2021 Grammys on Sunday because he\u2019s not performing at this year\u2019s show, Page Six has learned.<\/p>\n
The \u201cHold On\u201d crooner\u2019s decision to skip out on music\u2019s biggest night also comes after Bieber \u2014 who\u2019s nominated for four awards this weekend \u2014 called out the Recording Academy for nominating his album \u201cChanges\u201d in a pop category instead of classifying it as R&B as intended.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am flattered to be acknowledged and appreciated for my artistry. I am very meticulous and intentional about my music. With that being said, I set out to make an R&B album,\u201d he wrote on Instagram following the nominations announcement. \u201c\u2018Changes\u2019 was and is an R&B album. It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album, which is very strange to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Recording Academy didn\u2019t immediately return Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n
Bieber, 27, is up for Best Pop Solo Performance (\u201cYummy\u201d), Best Pop Duo\/Group Performance (\u201cIntentions,\u201d featuring Quavo), Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Country Duo\/Group Performance (for his feature on Dan + Shay\u2019s \u201c10,000 Hours\u201d).<\/p>\n
The \u201cHoly\u201d singer said the Recording Academy\u2019s \u201cweird\u201d decision was a disappointment, as it was his dream to \u201cmake a project that would embody that sound.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor this not to be put into that category feels weird, considering from the chords to the melodies to the vocal style, all the way down to the hip-hop drums that were chosen, it is undeniably, unmistakably an R&B album!\u201d<\/p>\n
