<\/p>\n\nEmerald Fennell brought a special guest with her to the 2021 Oscars on Sunday night.<\/p>\n
The filmmaker \u2014 who is the first-ever British woman to be nominated for Best Director for her film \u201cPromising Young Woman\u201d \u2014 glowed on the red carpet as she showed off her growing baby bump.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old, who Page Six on Sunday confirmed was pregnant, had a great start to the night when she took home the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the revenge-fantasy thriller.<\/p>\n

The film also is nominated for Best Picture and Best Film Editing as well and Carey Mulligan is nominated for Best Actress for her role in the movie.<\/p>\n
She shared with Giuliana Rancic that she got in the spirit to write the screenplay with Britney Spears\u2019 music and \u201cgarbage pizza\u201d and that Sunday\u2019s awards show was \u201cthe most exciting day of [her] life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just, honestly, it\u2019s all been incredible,\u201d she gushed. \u201cAnd I just never expected\u2014none of us expected, we made this movie in 23 days\u2014we never ever expected it to get to this stage. What has been so moving is people\u2019s candor and the conversations it\u2019s opened up for lots of people. It\u2019s just really been really overwhelming but in a very positive way.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThis will be Fennell\u2019s second child as she and her husband, Chris Vernon, welcomed their son in 2019.<\/p>\n
Fennell was seven months pregnant with their baby boy while in production for \u201cPromising Young Woman\u201d and said in a recent interview that the experience \u201cwasn\u2019t that bad.\u201d<\/p>\n
She explained, \u201cI think that\u2019s the important thing. Like a lot of women, I was terrified that it would stop everything in its tracks. But women do much harder things\u2014much harder things\u2014than direct films when they\u2019re seven months pregnant. Lots of women have done it before and will do it again, but the thing that\u2019s important to say is that it was completely possible and it was completely fine. I was just incredibly grateful that I was working with people who were so cool about it.
