<\/p>\nBritney Spears is ready to speak for herself, her attorney said at a court hearing on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe conservatee has requested that I seek from the court a status hearing at which she can address the court directly,\u201d Sam Ingham III told Judge Brenda Penny.<\/p>\n
While Ingham did not disclose the specific matters that Britney, 39, would like to address, the attorney shared the hearing would pertain to the \u201cstatus of the conservatorship.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMy client asked that it be done on expedited basis,\u201d Ingham added, emphasizing the urgency with which Britney would like to appear before the court.<\/p>\n

Because of this request for the pop star to appear in court within a 30 day window, Judge Penny set this status hearing for June 23 at 1:30 p.m. PT at Stanley Mosk Courthouse.<\/p>\n
Other matters pertaining to today\u2019s hearing \u2014 regarding the estate\u2019s accounting documents \u2014 were pushed back to a separate July 14 court date.<\/p>\n
The judge also granted a motion allowing the sealing of documents from public view pertaining to Jodi Montgomery, the temporary conservator of the person set to take over for Britney\u2019s father, Jamie Spears, in September.<\/p>\n
Jamie, 68, has been part of the conservatorship since its inception in 2008, following his daughter\u2019s highly publicized mental breakdown in 2007.<\/p>\n
Members of the #FreeBritney movement, who believe Britney is being unjustly controlled by her father and her team, have been advocating for his removal for some time.<\/p>\n
Although Montgomery is set to be conservator of the person, Jamie will remain as Britney\u2019s co-conservator of the estate, overseeing her finances, alongside Bessemer Trust.<\/p>\n
Britney\u2019s upcoming court appearance will be the first time in recent years the pop star has stood before the court.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, Britney shared with concerned fans on Instagram that she is \u201cextremely happy\u201d and \u201ctotally fine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have a beautiful home, beautiful children,\u201d said Britney, who shares sons, Jayden James, 14, and Sean Preston, 15, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. \u201cI\u2019m taking a break right now because I\u2019m enjoying myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
In February, a source also exclusively described Britney as \u201chappy and lively\u201d to us, but shared that the \u201cToxic\u201d singer had negative feelings about her conservatorship.<\/p>\n
