What a man gotta do to successfully host the 2021\u00a0Billboard Music Awards<\/a>?\u00a0Nick Jonas<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is going to find out.<\/p>\n

On April 30, dick clark productions and NBC announced the 28-year-old singer will host the ceremony live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 23. The\u00a0Jonas Brothers<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0band member seemed pretty excited about the role and posted a video of himself accepting the “preemptive ‘Best Host Ever’ award.”<\/p>\n

Nick already knows his way around the award show. After all, he took home three trophies last year with his brothers\u00a0Kevin Jonas<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Joe Jonas<\/a><\/strong>, winning Top Duo\/Group, Top Radio Songs Artist and Top Radio Song for their hit “Sucker.”\u00a0The\u00a0JoBros have also\u00a0performed at the event before<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition,\u00a0Nick has a bit of hosting experience under his belt. He fronted\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a>\u00a0earlier this year and\u00a0emceed the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in 2015<\/a>. He also announced the\u00a02021 Oscar nominees<\/a>\u00a0with his wife, actress\u00a0Priyanka Chopra<\/strong><\/a>, in March.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The\u00a0nominees for the 2021 Billboard Music Awards<\/a>\u00a0were revealed on April 29.\u00a0The Weeknd<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0received the most nominations with 16 nods, and\u00a0DaBaby<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0followed with 11. In addition, late rapper\u00a0Pop<\/strong>\u00a0Smoke<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was posthumously nominated in 10 categories, and\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0alum\u00a0Gabby Barrett<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0received nine nods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The ceremony honors artists in 51 categories across all genres of music.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The finalists are determined by their Billboard Chart performance over a certain period\u2014in this case, from March 21, 2020 to April 3, 2021\u2014as well as by fan interactions, such as album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay and social engagement.<\/p>\n

Viewers can watch the\u00a0Billboard Music Awards\u00a0on May 23 starting at 8:00 p.m. EST\/5:00 p.m. PST on NBC.<\/p>\n
