<\/p>\nGabourey Sidibe is making her directorial debut with \u201cPale Horse\u201d \u2014 a psychological thriller focused on an African-American author living with multiple sclerosis.<\/p>\n
The project is being produced via Gamechanger Films, which focuses on projects by and about women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community and people with disabilities. It will go into production this fall.<\/p>\n
The plot follows a woman named Naia, a famous and reclusive author living with MS. Her life unexpectedly changes when she shelters a mysterious man.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m super excited to work with Gamechanger on my first feature,\u201d Sidibe said in a statement. \u201cThis project is a true stand-out and the character of Naia is a badass!\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cAntebellum\u201d star first broke out in \u201cPrecious,\u201d directed by Lee Daniels, for which she won an Independent Spirit Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Oscar. She went on to star in Daniels\u2019 hit TV series \u201cEmpire,\u201d as well as Ryan Murphy\u2019s \u201cAmerican Horror Story,\u201d and also wrote a 2017 memoir, \u201cThis Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gamechanger is headed by CEO Effie T. Brown. The company\u2019s projects include Rebecca Hall\u2019s \u201cPassing,\u201d starring Ruth Negga and Tessa Thompson, which screened at Sundance and sold to Netflix.<\/p>\n
Brown said in a statement: \u201cStories like \u2018Pale Horse\u2019 are long overdue in the entertainment industry, and Gamechanger is dedicated to financing and producing them: entertaining films that offer diversity in storytelling, characters and filmmakers\u2026<\/p>\n
