De Niro, 77, hurt one of his quad muscles while on location filming Martin Scorsese\u2019s \u201cKillers of the Flower Moon\u201d in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n
\u201cI tore my quad somehow \u2026 [It was] just a simple stepping over something and I just went down,\u201d De Niro said in an interview with IndieWire. \u201cThe pain was excruciating and now I have to get it fixed. But it happens, especially when you get older, you have to be prepared for unexpected things.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luckily, the two-time Oscar winner clarified that his injury is \u201cmanageable.\u201d<\/p>\n
De Niro also went on to describe his role in the film as cattleman William Hale to be a \u201csedentary\u201d one.<\/p>\n
In his own words: \u201cI don\u2019t move around a lot, thank God. So we\u2019ll manage.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Thursday, De Niro returned to New York City to receive medical attention for his injury, People magazine reports.<\/p>\n
A rep for the actor reportedly told the outlet that De Niro\u2019s departure \u201cwill not affect production as he was not scheduled to film again for another three weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Western true crime film is being produced by AppleTV+ and is based on the non-fiction book written by journalist David Grann, which was originally published in 2017.<\/p>\n
De Niro will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, 46, who is taking on the role of Ernest Burkhart \u2013 the nephew of Hale.<\/p>\n
