On Saturday, Sept. 11, the\u00a0supermodel\u00a0took\u00a0a moment to honor\u00a0New York City,\u00a0as well as those who\u00a0suffered a great deal of pain from\u00a0the\u00a0horrific terrorist attacks\u00a0on Sept. 11, 2001<\/a>. In a post shared on Instagram, Gigi shared a touching tribute to mark the\u00a020th anniversary of the tragedy<\/a>, writing, “My heart is heavy today thinking of all the lives lost on this day 20 years ago.”<\/p>\n

“I will never forget that day, and since then, NYC has become a city that has given me so much,” her message continued. “Sending light and love to all the first responders, New Yorkers, those who lost loved ones, and those affected worldwide by the tragedies of 2001.”<\/p>\n

Gigi concluded, “I am proud of the resilient spirit of NYC, and proud to be amongst it. May God Bless all.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The supermodel, who is a California native, has called\u00a0New York City her home<\/a>\u00a0in the last few years.<\/p>\n

Not only is it\u00a0the<\/em>\u00a0place to live for\u00a0fashion\u00a0devotees such as hersel<\/a>f, but it’s also where she and her longtime partner,\u00a0Zayn Malik<\/a><\/strong>, have been raising their\u00a0daughter\u00a0Khai<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0who turns 1 later this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Gigi made a splash during\u00a0New York Fashion Week<\/a>\u00a0as she\u00a0walked\u00a0several\u00a0runways<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0fashion shows<\/a>\u00a0such as\u00a0Moschino, Brandon Maxwell and\u00a0Proenza Schouler to name a few.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
