Matthew Fox<\/a>\u00a0has finally\u00a0found<\/em>\u00a0(get it?) the role that will bring him back to TV.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The\u00a0Lost<\/a><\/em>\u00a0star, who once vowed that he was done with television after the ABC drama concluded, will return to the small screen in a\u00a0limited series\u00a0thriller for NBCUniversal’s streaming service\u00a0Peacock<\/a>. Titled\u00a0Last Light<\/em>\u00a0and based on the apocalyptic novel by Alex Scarrow, the series will follow “a family fighting to survive in a world that has been suddenly thrown into chaos,” according to a press release.<\/p>\n

Fox, who has not appeared on screen since 2015, will star as Andy Neilsen, a petro-chemist who discovers that the world’s oil supply has been cut off while on a business trip to the Middle East. With his wife, son, and daughter scattered across Europe, the family must face the distance and dangers that separate them to find each other and reunite.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fox will also executive-produce the series, with\u00a0Downton Abbey<\/a><\/em>\u00a0actress\u00a0Joanne Froggatt<\/a>\u00a0starring as Andy’s wife, Elena. Patrick\u00a0Massett\u00a0and John\u00a0Zinman (Friday Night Lights<\/a><\/em>) will serve as showrunners, and seasoned TV veteran Dennie Gordon will direct the series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Last Light<\/em>\u00a0is the perfect combination of an action-packed limited series with a compelling family drama at its heart,”\u00a0Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at\u00a0NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a statement.\u00a0“Led by fan favorites Matthew Fox and Joanne Froggatt, this sweeping international saga spans several continents that provide a stunning global backdrop, yet is grounded in a relatable and topical story.\u00a0 We can’t wait to share this with Peacock audiences.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
