Infamous Club Kid Killer Michael Alig expected he would be dead by the end of 2020, according to a source.
“Michael told me he probably wasn’t going to make it through the year. He started making ‘Party Monster 2’ movie, which was … footage of when he got out of prison,” the source told Page Six. “It was like a documentary. Michael told me, ‘I’ll never see money from it because they said they’ll only release it after [longtime collaborator and DJ] Keoki or I died.’”
He was found dead on Christmas Eve.
Macaulay Culkin played Alig in the 2003 biopic “Party Monster,” which portrayed the Club Kid scene that he helmed, which culminated in the brutal death of Angel Melendez. Alig and Robert “Freeze” Riggs served time in prison for killing Melendez, dismembering his body and tossing it in the Hudson River in 1996. Alig was released from prison in 2014, but continued to chase his Club Kid heyday and do drugs.
Police officials told us there were no “obvious signs of trauma.”
He was allegedly found dead of an apparent heroin overdose by Ben Silva, who described himself as “Michael’s other boyfriend and almost husband” in a message — seen by Page Six — to the organizers of a GoFundMe raising money for his funeral expenses.
Silva said in the message that he was “sleeping next to [Alig] when he died.” And said, “I’m the one who called 911… and the one who was with him all day literally.”
Meanwhile, some friends of Alig’s are somehow mystified at how he could’ve died from an overdose.
“Being a user, he would have a tolerance … There must’ve been something like fentanyl mixed with it,” the first source said.
Another added: “Michael did a lot of drugs and couldn’t get out of his own way. He had so much heroin in his body, there was no way he wasn’t going to die. He was an addict, but it’s strange that he took the amount that he took [to kill him].”
A spokesperson for the NYPD told Page Six the medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
