Sean McEnroe, the son of Tatum O’Neal and John McEnroe, secretly got married.
The 33-year-old revealed that he and wife Niamh tied the knot in Sedona, Arizona in September in a new Instagram post on Monday.
“I can’t think of a better way to start 2021 than to share with all of you that Niamh and I are officially Mr. and Mrs. McEnroe,” he wrote in the caption.
He also told a story of when he had a breakdown and destroyed a ficus, only to see Niamh nurse the plant back to health and watch it grow stronger than ever.
“Niamh gave me a foundation of faith and hope, through her resolute unwavering example, a rooted foundation that I wasn’t even close to having at the time,” he wrote. “Everything that I am now, I owe to her. I love you, Niamh McEnroe. You are my true love, my foundation, and my fountain of inspiration all in one. I will love you my whole life, you and no other.”
Sean explained why the newlyweds decided to wait on announcing their marriage.
“We decided to keep it private until now,” he recently told People in a statement. “We went through a lot of challenges and difficulties this past year,”
Sean shared that Niamh was pregnant in the fall but suffered a pregnancy loss at the end of her first trimester.
“It was devastating but in the end, it’s made us closer and stronger. And our bond is better than it’s ever been,” he said in the statement.
Things got serious for the couple when Niamh moved into Sean’s LA home in early 2019. They shared the news of their engagement in February on Instagram.
