Scarlett Johansson is to reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff in the upcoming Black Widow movie, but could it be the last time we see the character in the MCU?
As fans know, Natasha sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame so that Hawkeye could retrieve the Soul Stone. And the only reason we’ll be seeing her again is because Black Widow is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War.
But aside from that, is it beyond the realms of possibility that she could make an appearance in another Marvel film, after the point of her death?
After all, with everything from the multiverse and the quantum realm to time-travelling, death is never really the end in the MCU.
So naturally, at San Diego Comic-Con, Johansson was quizzed about appearing in future Marvel movies, to which she gave a typically guarded response.
“If I survive the shooting of this film, maybe,” she jokingly told ComicBook.com. “That’s the most vague answer I could possibly give.”
Let’s face it, a vague answer is usually as good as a ‘yes’. So perhaps we’ll get to see her chill out The Hulk at least a couple more times.
Elsewhere, a first look at Black Widow revealed that Natasha will be coming up against a familiar comic book foe – Taskmaster.
Black Widow will arrive in cinemas on May 1, 2020.
