NBC has a hit on its hands with Brooklyn Nine-Nine and fans couldn’t be more thrilled. On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, NBC announced they have renewed the popular comedy series for a second season. The official Twitter released a tweet saying that they waited nine seconds to make the announcement.
Fans immediately sounded off with their enthusiasm and one user said they had binge-watched 118 episodes in six days and regretted none of it.
There is no doubt the series is a cult classic and has its die-hard fans. Premiering on the Fox network September 17, 2013, fans rallied to save the show when Fox canceled it. NBC picked it up and audiences have been glued to the show.
NBC is also thrilled that the show’s ratings are higher on NBC than they were the same time last year on FOX. NBC also stated that Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of their highest digital performers all around.
Here is a statement by NBC Entertainment Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming Tracey Pakosta and Lisa Katz.
“It’s been one of our great joys as a network to give ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ a second life. Cheers to Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York’s finest into New York’s funniest.”
