Felicity Huffman Tears Up While Pleading Guilty To Involvement In Operation Varsity Blues
Felicity Huffman broke down in tears as she pleaded guilty in the college entrance fraud case she is involved in. The actress might be facing some serious time behind bars.
As you may know, the former Desperate Housewives star paid $15,000 to a fake charity that helped change her daughter’s SAT scores.
Huffman could be sentenced to no less than two decades in prison for her crime but the prosecutors are asking for much less.
Regardless, as she made it very clear that she regrets her actions, the actress still got emotional.
Felicity accepted full responsibility and showed remorse in court.
Judge Talwani told her that, aside from the jail danger, she’s also lost multiple rights such as holding office, the right to vote in several states and also gun ownership!
As you may be aware, the actress is one of the 13 parents involved in the biggest college admissions scam in the country, a case the FBI dubbed as Operation Varsity Blues.
And since she pleaded guilty, the prosecutors have requested the ‘low end’ of the imprisonment range, believed to be no more than four months.
In addition, she’d also have to pay a $20,000 fine, and would be on probation for 12 months.
Her sentencing’s set to take place on September 13.
Huffman previously addressed the scandal saying that: ‘I’m in full acceptance of my guilt, and with regret and shame over what I’ve done, I accept the full responsibility for my actions and I will accept the consequences stemming from those actions. I’m ashamed of the pain I’ve caused my daughter, my family, friends, colleagues and the educational community.’
‘I want to apologize to them and I want to apologize to all the students who work hard to get into college, and their parents who make tremendous sacrifices to support their children and do so honestly.’
