Selena Gomez Shares Emotional Message Following Saugus High School Shooting: ‘Please Don’t Get Numb To It’
Selena Gomez is speaking out following Thursday’s horrific high school shooting in Santa Clarita, California.
Two students were left dead and several injured after a gunman open fired at Saugus High School.
The singer, 27, took to her Instagram Stories sharing a screenshot of a headline about the tragic shooting, reading “A 16-Second Spasm Of Violence Leaves Two Dead At Saugus High School.”
Gomez offered her own caption to the devastating headline, writing, “I know people speak on this a lot but it’s because how often it happens… please don’t get numb to it.”
She added, “I’m not sure if I can do anything but I will never stop trying.”
Gomez isn’t the only star to speak out on the shooting, James Corden addressed the tragedy while slamming politicians for failing to address gun laws.
“We’re horrified that another place of innocence, learning, and education has become instead a site of violence and trauma,” he said during his opening monologue. “Our hearts break for the families, they really do.”
He added, “Whilst we continue to elect politicians without the moral courage to address gun laws, these tragedies are destined to keep repeating themselves… Tonight, we grieve for the families of the victims and the community that’s been shattered. Tonight, we send our love to Santa Clarita.”
