Emma Watkins, aka the Yellow Wiggle has revealed that there’s a new man in her life.
Speaking to Stellar, the 30-year-old children’s performer said that she’s fallen for musician Oliver Brian who is part of the wider Wiggles family.
“Yes, I’m in love and I feel very excited to tell you,” gushed Watkins.
“I haven’t actually told anybody because it’s new, but I feel happy,” she added.
“He’s very opposite to me,” she continued. “He’s a very calm and thoughtful person and I’ve always been interested in his mind and his take on life, and his morals. He loves talking about the environment and food production. It’s not very ‘Wiggly’, but it’s been nice for me to talk about things not just concerning ourselves, but people everywhere around the world.”
Watkins’ happy news comes at the end of a trying couple of years in which she’s battled endometriosis, endured a very public split from her ex, Purple Wiggle Lachlan Gillespie and watched him find love with his ballerina co-star Dana Stephenson.
Recalling the public’s response to their breakup in August year after they married in April 2016, Watkins told Stellar that it was mostly parents that had the biggest issue with it.
“Some people don’t understand it, they want us to be together — particularly the parents. The children don’t care. The parents wanted to fall in love with that fairytale and that’s what we’re rebuilding now.”
When asked by Stellar if she regretted marrying Gillespie, 34, Watkins was adamant that she was grateful for the experience.
“It was almost like we were at high school. We became Wiggles and everything was such a spectacle, and it was exciting and we were riding on that excitement together, and that included getting married.”
She continued, “That was beautiful and we would never take that back because it was such a beautiful representation of our relationship and our friendship.”
