Liam Payne’s £3million proposal as he confirms engagement to model Maya Henry
Liam Payne has confirmed his engagement to Maya Henry as he finally popped the question after their two-year romance.
The One Direction star, 26, asked model Maya, 20, for her hand in marriage and went on to place an eye-watering £3million sparkler on her finger.
Maya couldn’t wait to show off her huge diamond rock as it glistened when the pair stepped out to a swanky London restaurant to celebrate their engagement.
In fact, the ring was jaw-droppingly huge – with Channel 4’s Posh Pawn gemologist Alexandra Michell confirming the ring’s price tag stretched over the £3million mark.
Alexandra gave her expert opinion about the rock, revealing: “Maya’s engagement is a real show stopper.”
She added: “A lavish 20-25cts emerald cut diamond ring with a diamond cluster surround set in 18ct white gold.”
The Prestige Pawnbrokers gemologist continued to analyse the ring, saying the clarity is “flawless”.
She went on: “Diamonds which are cut into the emerald shape, are usually done so because they are extremely clean stones, and this type of cut really shows it off.
“I would estimate that a stone such as this could be of D colour which is rare and highly sought after, and of flawless clarity.”
She added: “Judging by the size and quality I would imagine the price tag would be just as staggering, easily coming in over £3,000,000!”
News of the pair’s engagement was confirmed by Liam’s reps this morning.
For months, the lovebirds have kept their romance pretty low-key within the celebrity circles.
In fact, their love story spans back years – however the pair only went public with their romance in August last year.
They had previously kept their romance a secret from others.
When first spotted out together in August 2018, Liam was still dealing with his very public split from his long-term love Cheryl.
But Maya – who is 17 years younger than Cheryl – seemed to have helped him put his heartache aside as he managed to find love again soon after.
Liam and Maya faced split rumours in February earlier this year after they took their relationship off social media.
But nevertheless, Liam has always been vocal about Maya’s support and love towards him, and even hailed her as his best friend.
Maya and Liam have known of each other for years, with the pair first being pictured together at a meet-and-greet event when 1D fan Maya was 15.
Liam previously had a high-profile romance with Cheryl – with whom he shares three-year-old son Bear.
They raise their son together and amicably co-parent as exes.
In recent months, the former One Direction singer gushed over “special lady” and ex Cheryl for helping him raise his son.
