La La Anthony defends Kim Kardashian amid 40th birthday backlash.
La La Anthony has come to Kim Kardashian’s defense after the reality star flew her inner circle to a private island for her 40th birthday amid the ongoing pandemic.
As Kardashian continues to get backlash for the trip, Anthony — who attended the lavish getaway — told Entertainment Tonight, “I just know we live in a world where people are gonna have something to say about everything.”
“I know what we’re all doing individually when it comes to charities, when it comes to using our platforms, when it comes to voting, when it comes to prison reform, when it come to the millions of things that we’re doing,” the 39-year-old TV personality continued. “We try to just help the world in general, and that’s what matters to me. It’s not just about going on an island and taking a beautiful picture. I mean, there’s a lot more to what all of us do in our day-to-day lives than that. That’s what matters. I’d rather amplify that side of what we’re doing.”
Anthony said the trip was a “great experience” and was “so appreciative” to be included, especially when the country is going through a pandemic.
“…it’s nice to just take that little break from the chaos and be able to step away and just genuinely have a good time,” she explained.
The MTV alum also said that the trip is indicative of Kardashian’s generous nature.
“That’s exactly who she is. So anyone who knows her, knows she goes above and beyond for the people she loves and cares about. She’s like me. We just want everyone to have a good time and we’re having fun when everyone else is having fun.”
The trip cost the SKIMS founder $1 million, flying her family and friends on a private jet to The Brando resort in Tahiti.
Kardashian shared photos from the over-the-top extravaganza and was widely mocked for writing alongside them: “We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40”
Khloé Kardashian also defended her big sister on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week.
“I haven’t heard a lot about it, but I did hear that people were upset that we all went out of town. I don’t really know the extent of it,” she said. “But this year is a frustrating year. I get it. I think there’s so many frustrations going on for everybody. But also it’s her 40th. This is something that she wanted to do for us. It was such a nice thing.”
